Alcohol-Related Liver Disease (ARLD) Infographic

Underage drinking and alcohol abuse is the most prevalent among college students, so awareness of the long-term detrimental effects of alcoholism is necessary. This project was supported by Dr. Boies for allowing her Epidemiology students like myself to discuss health-related issues that we feel most called to bring awareness to.

Hi Amanda! I was interested in your infographic because I feel like people being diagnosed with fatty liver tissue is starting to become more common, especially in the United States. I also like how informative and visually appealing it is. I didn’t know that you can get jaundice from drinking too much. I also really appreciate how at the bottom of the infographic; you added a hotline for alcohol dependency. This makes others feel like they are not alone in their journey. Thank you for sharing!

  • I loved the way this infographic was formatted and how informative it was. I’ve witnessed binge drinking and excessive drinking throughout my college experience and I feel like no one really knows the effects comes with it. This a topic that more people should be aware of and this infographic highlights all the key components of this disease and solutions on how to help.

Liver disease can be very scary, but after reading the infographic, I am glad that it can be prevented. Your infographic did a great job of detailing the realities of drinking alcohol and the harmful effects that come with it. I liked that you included a helpline in your infographic. It is important to know that help can be provided.

Such a beautifully done infographic! I believe it had the perfect amount of information to get your point across. I also really enjoy the fact that you addressed the issue of the transplant list having a high demand with insufficient donors. Alcoholism has been very glorified and many do not realize that alcohol is the #1 most abused substance. It may not be common knowledge what an unhealthy amount of alcohol assumption is for a day and/or week. Moreover, since most effects of alcohol are gradual and internal, many do not realize the severity until it is too late.

Good evening Amanda, your infographic was amazing. I loved that you stated the risks and consequences of alcoholic related liver disease. As a Hispanic growing up in the south, I witnessed many cases where parents during their 40’s were passing away due to the excessive amount and binge drinking, they were doing in events. The Mexican culture and traditions of drinking are very damaging to today’s generation, especially to young children and those that are underage. It is important to also raise awareness with families and schools on the dangers of drinking and how our cultures can redefine alcoholism. Alcohol is very dangerous despite many adults or children saying otherwise. I loved that you pointed out information on where to find help and how to know the effects of the risk’s alcohol can bring into our bodies, lives, and others.

Good Job!! The infographic effectively highlighted the dangers of excessive alcohol consumption, which is especially relevant given the prevalence of underage drinking among college students. The infographic was well-done and presents the issue in a positive light.

We tend to poison ourselves in more ways than we imagine at times we don’t even realize it until it is too late. If we don’t understand and not are aware of what could hurt us we will continue to do it; that is why it is important to stay informed, help others fight their addiction, and be able to find healthy ways and solutions to help the body.

Discussing ARLD is very important and i’m glad you decided to write and conduct your research on it. Your publication is easy to read and has a wonderful flow to it. I found it very interesting and I myself learned a little something. It was an easy read and made me want to read up more on it. I feel like it is important to write about these things to get more people engaged sooner rather than later on topics such as this one. greta job!

This infographic did an excellent job of demonstrating the hazards of excessive alcohol consumption. This is a hot topic because underage drinking is common among some college students. I condemn this infographic for being both informed and optimistic about how to deal with alcohol abuse. Normally, the issue is a depressing one that many people attempt to avoid, but this demonstrated that anyone can approach it with a cheerful attitude. The infographic itself was excellent.
