Children’s Dental Care: Tips for Parents

I would like to express my gratitude to my Epidemiology professor, Dr. L Boies, and my peers for their guidance and encouragement in completing this project. I would also like to thank St. Mary’s University for offering me reliable information from healthcare resources. Their contributions have allowed me to use my platform and educate the community around me about the importance of prioritizing oral care for kids.

Oral Hygiene Awareness

Fernanda Lopez

I was born and raised in Mcallen, TX, a border city that lacked many healthcare services. This sparked my motivation to pursue a career in this field and make a lasting impact in people’s lives. I was always had a passion for dentistry, which is why I am following the Pre-dental track with hopes of becoming a general dentist in South Texas. After graduating in May 2023, I will receive my bachelors degree in Biology and certification in Public Health.

Throughout my undergraduate years, I found ways to get involved in the field and make an impact in the community around me. I took on leadership roles in the Pre-Dental Society that have allowed me to educate my campus during oral hygiene awareness week and give care packages to the homeless shelters. Additionally, I am an active member of the Delta Zeta Sorority in which we have hosted multiple fundraisers for our philanthropies, The Sunshine Cottage and The Sparky Foundation.

Along with a lot of useful advice for parents, it also contained a ton of fascinating facts about the current state of children’s dental health. The standard of living for children can be impacted by poor hygiene. Early dental visits are a crucial component of children’s heath. Parents don’t appear to take their kids to the dentist when they are very small. The percentage of parents who take their children to the dentist increases as the children get older.

I thought this graphic had a perfect mix of graphics and information. The color pallette was perfect, and the layout was also very nice. I thought this graphic was great because dental hygiene in children is so important and is often overlooked at such a young age. This graphic is great for informing new parents of something important that is easily forgotten.

This infographic was fantastic! I liked how brief and easy it was, but how packed it was with crucial information! The color palette and concept were also excellent! What you can do was my favorite section. Personally, I believe a section demonstrating what people can do if they do not have dental insurance would be beneficial! However, excellent and efficient work!

This infographic is so cute and special. Our children need to be protected and it starts with something at home like dental care. This infographic is perfect for guardians / parents but it is also very important to the general public to see how everything starts. I like the attention grabbers in this publication it is nice to look at but it is also easy to stay engaged.

Everything in your body is important and it is necessary to keep healthy. At times we see and assume that other things are important, but when we forget to take care of ourselves it leads to negative impacts in your body that then have an effect for your rest of your lives. The duty as parents and grown ups is to make sure that others are educated on the importance of taking care of each other and oneself. We need to bring awareness and help to everyone.

This infographic was so creative, and the colors are eye catching! I liked how short and easy it was to understand and interpret, It is full of crucial information that people may not know regarding children and dental care. All insurance is important, but specifically, health care insurance is helpful. Dental is the most important as if you have issues with your teeth that can lead to heart failure and other organ issues. I like the message and overall appearance.

The publication is both informative and engaging, making it a great read. It serves as a warning to stay alert, which is valuable. Although it contains a lot of text, the presentation is neat and well-organized, and it’s not overwhelming to read. Congratulations on a job well done!

Great Infographic Fernanda! I think child dental care is often overlooked in young children until their teeth come out but it is important to consult with a dentist to see if any cavities are growing or a way to inform them on how to prevent it. Great job!
