Serial Killers
The Night Stalker

This was an amazing article and i am glad that i was able to read it. It is interesting that people would idolize and fantasize about these series killers. I find it interesting to be able to study these men and women and their crimes to see what was going on in their heads and what they think. But to idolize them is a little much. Great Article!

Very interesting article! I really enjoyed reading this! I remember watching this movie when it had first came out. It was very chilling. I was able to learn even more about it. I love horror movies but even this one was scary to watch. It’s crazy how people were attracted to someone so deadly even thought he was able to be diagnosed.

Wow! I see why this article got the award for best in category. The detail is amazing. I am a big fan off horror and Halloween, but seeing how people become infatuated by these terrible people is insane. I find myself talking about murderers and stuff to creep my friends out, but I’m not obsessed. Who in their right mind would marry a serial killer? Before reading this I had no idea who this man was and I now I’m pleased to have read the article. Great Work

I had seen a special about this Night Stalker on TV once. I’ve read a few articles but none like this one. The way Ramirez rose to stardom through killing was extremely mind boggling and upsetting. The charm and spell he had over these women shouldn’t have been there in the first place. What makes looking into the eyes of a murderer to romantic? It’s hard to believe he was married. As the artclie said, a cruel, sadistic human being isn’t capable of such love. It is truly insane to read about the many women who were infatuated by Ramirez.

I had done a project based off Richard Ramirez, and reading every fact and document it made it hard for me to believe that anyone could possibly attracted to this man. This article truly captures the cruel and sadistic persona of Ramirez of how he can simply kill multiple people because he liked it or how women romanticize the man who kills women for a living. Overall, this is a fantastic article!

By far, I think that this is my favorite article. I really like the way that Karina Nanez introduces the article, claiming that America fell in love with “all things horror”. I also admire how Nanez took the time to give background information on the topic (like “hybristophilia”) and relate it to todays culture (like bringing up American Horror Story). Learning about Richard Ramirez and his Satan-obsessed, murder and rape loving tendencies, makes me feel no remorse for him. I don’t understand how Ramirez had so many fans/groupies because somehow, “Richard Ramirez still has our attention”.

Reading this article made me feel uneasy. I find it fascinating that a serial killer could receive so much attention and love from people. It’s insane to think that Richard Ramirez had fans. It makes me wonder how mentally stable the people who loved him were. I also found it interesting that Ramirez got married while he was in prison. I appreciated that the article gave a lot of Ramirez’s childhood background. Serial killers have a mental condition and it usually stems from a part of their childhood gone wrong and effecting them when they grow up. So it was nice to learn about how he grew up and found himself killing people.

For starters, this article had an extremely strong thesis, it really got my mind working as far as engaging with the reading. This individual was twisted to the core, the fact that his only motive was because he liked to do so is even more sickening. I find it troubling that women and men find this man attractive and fantasize over him. This article raised many questions regarding serial killers, and how sick they are. I am so glad we are able to study these sick individuals in order to get a better understanding. Amazing article!

I like how this article focuses on the obsession around Richard Ramirez but still highlights the important points of his life that led him to kill so many people. Growing up in El Paso I always heard about Richard Ramirez and it’s interesting to see how people in the 80s obsessed over killers like him and Jeffrey Dahmer. It’s hard to believe how some women were willing to marry serial killers despite what they had done.

Great job encapsulating not only the popularity of Richard Ramirez but the psychological aspects, too! Not only celebrities are famous, but it seems that criminals are now infamous. Recall OJ’s trial and you’ll see the similarities between his case and Richard Ramirez. You did pretty good at trying to understand why the popularity of killers nearly rivals that of celebrities. Thank you for making it interesting.
