I love how there was such a great background that climaxed into the actual escape. I never thought that someone would be able to escape the most inescapable prison, well not anymore. I kind of find it funny and ironic when someone escapes from prison because they were meant to stay in a place that keeps them in. It was also really funny hearing about how the escapes sent a letter many years later about their escape. Must’ve been very frustrating.

I love the story about the escape from Alcatraz! It is so interesting. When I visited Alcatraz, I got to see the place where they escaped from! It was awesome! I like how this article mentioned the lives of the prisoners before they got arrested as background information. It really helped set up the article. I also liked how it discussed what happened after the prisoners escaped. Good job!

This is indeed a very well written article. I have known about the existence of the famous, most secured prison of Alcatraz, but it was really interesting to read about the escape of the Anglin brothers from this prison. What makes it very interesting is the fact that criminals were able to escape from the most secure prison in America. In the end, I really enjoyed reading this article, and I like how detailed this article is and the information that was shown.

This article was really fun to read. I have heard of the Alcatraz prison and how it was basically a fortress, but I never have heard of this escape story. It was shocking to read how these three prisoners were able to formulate such a good plan and were able to stay hidden until they gave themselves up in the letter.

I got to visit Alcatraz many years ago, and you can tell that escape from there was nearly impossible. Abandoned prisons to me have always given off a weird vibe; to think that each cell has a story and a living person was housed in every one of those very cells. I always knew there was “Escape From Alcatraz” movie (I believe Clint Eastwood was in it?) but never really understood the full story, so this was definitely an interesting read. If you’re interested in Alcatraz, you might want to look into the story of Al Capone speaking to guards about seeing a red-eyed demon in his cell during the night. Not sure if this story is true, but definitely caught my attention when I heard it.

I always knew Alcatraz to one of the most famous high security prisons but that is where my knowledge ultimately stopped. I knew there was a movie like the one mentioned in your article however, I did not know the real story behind it. Not only is this a story about a remarkable feat but the fact that it still remains unsolved is crazy! I feel like they did make it out alive and just managed to stay underground all these years. Further investigation should be made because it is ultimately important to history.

I loved the structure of this piece, how it starts with introducing this famous escape, but not telling the story to keep the reader engaged. Then how it moved on to the backstory, plan, and what led up to the escape, then the actual escape, then telling us what Alcatraz is today; very well written. I have visited Alcatraz before and the whole place is very haunting, but I was never told the backstories of the men who escaped. I had also never heard of the letter saying that they survived, I’m guessing it was kept under wraps by the Marshals to prevent people from thinking that Alcatraz was escapable. I also wanted to share a fact that I learned from my visit to the prison. Basically, Alcatraz was one of the only prisons that only had hot water for inmates when they showered. This is because they didn’t want the inmates to get used to the frigid cold water, like they had out on the San Francisco Bay, so it would make it harder for them to survive if they ever made it out of the prison and into the water.

I myself, went to go visit Alcatraz, the experience was quite fascinating. It was interesting to read about the elaborate escape of the Anglin brothers from Alcatraz. It was scary to see even criminals could escape from one of the most secure prisons at that current time when the prison claimed to be a supermax prison. I enjoyed reading the article towards the end when they wrote a letter confirming they escaped from Alcatraz.

I had always heard about Alcatraz through television shows growing up and always thought it was fascinating. The fact that three individuals were about to make it out of the top security level prison was mind blowing. What makes it even more interesting s that fact that they may have “survived” from what news media has covered. Had the facility never shut down, I wonder what it would look like today and whether or not it would still be considered the highest prison.

The inescapable prison got beat by three masterminds which is incredible! I knew the basics of the story, but I appreciate this article for going in depth and being well written. I wonder if Alcatraz is really haunted, and I wouldn’t be surprised if it was after reading the part of this article about the strict standards the prison held on its prisoners.
