I really loved reading your article Mia! I have never heard of Anne Hutchison before, so I learned a lot from you. I think you took a lot of time researching which really shows in your article. I think Anne Hutchinson is a really important figure for women at the time. I also liked the picture of the statue you had because it shows the extent of her importance to this day and her persistence for woman’s equality.

A well written and thought out article. We need more of these in history courses. Even in the 21st century the history of women and their accomplishments is ignored. Anne Hutchison stood up not only for women but the disenfranchised of her time and religious background, against what might be today considered an intolerant and theocratic society. As many of us know the New England and North American colonies were formed by those fleeing the Church of England’s intolerance of Catholics and dissenters from the position of the official church of the land. Unfortunately the New England colonies themselves became a theocracy

I admire that you used a source that was focused on Ane herself. I think the introduction itself drew me into the article because it clearly addresses an issue present in our modern-day world. I find the strong narrative style quite easy to follow and very comprehensive, as well. The foot notes of the pictures are quite easy to comprehend and keep the reader engaged and entertained. Overall, the article was interesting, and it just seems impossible to believe that women used to live in those social inequalities.

This was such an interesting article, especially since it could’ve been seen as one of the sparks for feminism. I heard her name before, but I never knew that she was a preacher. It’s crazy to think about how courageous that was, especially since she was a woman, if she was in England, it probably would’ve been off with her head. It’s cool to think about how her work influenced some of our documents that we still use today, like the first amendment that was mentioned at the end of the article.

Great article and it brought light to feminism that it’s been fighting since the beginning of America and is still fighting to this day. Honestly I never have heard of her before that I can remember and if I did it was probably a brief sentence on her. So, I thought it was interesting to learn something about feminism and our country’s history. Besides that and I like I said before great article and good read.

Great article that mentions a religious freedom figure that is rarely ever mentioned when learning about the foundations of religious toleration in the United States. Anne Hutchinson was portrayed greatly in this article and I appreciate the author’s look into Anne’s bringing up to explain why she believed in what she did. The photos used by the author illustrate Anne perfectly in her glory as a great orator and add to her characterization.

I was not aware of Anne Hutchinson before I read this and I have to say that I admire her for not backing down and standing up for her right to practice religion. I also have to say well done for making this article interesting and engaging. I wasn’t bored while reading and I felt like I actually learned something about this historical figure that I previously knew nothing about.

This article was very informative. I did not know about Anne Hutchinson and appreciated how the author explained the role of women in the 1600s. I agree Hutchinson was an early feminist. I liked how the author describes Hutchinson and her style, particularly at her trial. The article reminds me of the injustices that women have faced for hundreds of years.

I didn’t know anything about Ann Hutchinson, outside of assisting a friend on a brief history assignment and perhaps covering her in high school. Just by the way you describe her in your article, I’m almost imagine her to be a sort of Martin Luther King Jr. (for Puritan society). What was surprising to me is that there were so many others in the society around her that felt the same way, considering how much of a following she had. It is disappointing that her life had to end in such an undignified method, but I think the fact that she had the chutzpah to stand up to the rigid social structure imposed by the Church really left its mark on history.

This article really shows the passion and determination of Anne Hutchinson. Her passion led her to immigrate to a new, unknown area for her love for biblical teachings. Though it was her determination that caused to make such a uproar in the name of religious freedom. Her unapologetic attitude towards those in authority to speak the truth is truly inspiring, especially in today’s age.
