Her movement caught people’s attention and has grown to a worldwide action network that combines young school children and their parents and grand parents. Greta began informing her own community and asking them to take a stance and to act when most were not aware yet about climate change.4 Thunberg continued her advocacy and while she tries to avoid traveling, she now has people all over the world sharing her same values. Thunberg started to think bigger, she informed herself of what countries were polluting the most. Thunberg learned that Argentina, Brazil, France, Turkey, and Germany were some of the major contributors of carbon and greenhouse gas pollution in the world. So, she began a lawsuit against these five countries which claims that carbon-polluting countries are violating the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child 5 She travels by land and oceans, instead of by airplanes that produce the highest levels of greenhouse gases. During these trips, she gives interviews to well known shows where she explains more of her concerns and why she began this movement. In one of the shows she mentioned that she began this movement with the thought of “even if I can’t make that big of a difference in this issue, I could look at myself in the mirror and know I did something.”6 Thunberg never forgets to express her frustrations about how the people in charge, are leaving her generation with the mess they created and that they continue to worsen. She is saddened about the amounts of forests that are being destroyed and animals are going extinct because of human activity.
Greta Thunberg continues her fight for progress, pushes for small actions to be implemented by the current leaders around the world. People hear her warnings and her call to action and discuss what a great impact she has been making in just under two years of activism. At only seventeen years old, Greta Thunberg has been nominated for a Nobel Peace Prize for 2020.11 She was also chosen as the person of the year 2019 by TIME’s Magazine 12 Thunberg gives tips on how to become more Eco-friendly giving us the chance to take action. While she has stopped flying to minimize green gas emissions, other solutions are more practical, she has become vegan, she has adopted the shop-stop philosophy (which is not buying anything unless you absolutely have to), but most importantly she continues communicating the importance of slowing climate change to people in power. Sometimes life gets in the way or we have other responsibilities that do not allow us to be as involved in movements we support. However, is it responsible to dismiss the very real impacts of global warming because these are merely inconveniences in our lives while climate change severely impacts millions around the world? We must start making small adjustments to our daily lives, if we are to hope for a better future.

It’s interesting that the article was started by mentioning the role of social media in the global warming crisis affecting us today. I first found out about Greta’s efforts through social media albeit in the form of a meme. Personally, I believe social media has actually contributed positively to social issues. At the end of the day, I think it largely depends on who you follow on social media that will determine how you feel about the situation.

Greta Thunberg is so inspiring, and I can’t believe she knows so much about climate change that people triple her age don’t know what’s going on with our planet. Greta’s actions give me hope about the future. Let’s just hope more people like her take a stand. Overall, this was a very informative and well-written article on a strong figure. Great job!

This was such an informative and great article to read. Greta Thunberg is such an inspiration at such a young age and this article demonstrates exactly why and how she is. She shows everyone how it does not matter if they do not have money or if they are not “old enough,” they can still fight for what they believe in.

I love Greta Thunberg! It’s so inspiring to she someone at such a young age have such a strong voice for climate change and protecting the environment. I watched the documentary about her a few months ago on Hulu and I thought it awesome on how devoted she is to protect this earth. I also think it’s super important on how she stands up to big corporations and tells them the cold hard truth with no sugar coating. She means business and that’s what’s gonna get us progress on this movement.

this article on Greta Thunberg was amazing. The impact that the youth has is sticking and overpowering, Greta was able to make people listen and protest what she believed in. Her hard work and out sourcing of her self via the media and in person is exactly what needs to happen. The world does not wait for us to change it does that on it’s own and once people understand and thin k the same way that she did positive change can happen. This well written article should inspire those to educate themselves that she did and follow in her foot steps. This issue shouldn’t concern her age just the planet as a whole.

Reading articles about young advocates for serious issues always warms my heart, not just for the fact that it’s moving to hear such passion, but that we’ve been able to grow enough as a community to listen and have opportunities where we are able to have young advocates speak for what they believe in. The fact that Greta has been able to make a voice and name for herself through social media is something we wouldn’t be able to imagine 100 years ago. Through the power of social media where everything is yours to digest in an instant, Greta has the whole world listening, and that is the true definition of being the change you want to see. Great article, thank you!

I enjoyed reading this article about Greta Thunberg. It is crazy how they are so many older people in this world who do not care about how global warming is changing our climate. Its very good how the youth cares about this and wants to make a difference and help make a change like Greta. She has used the help of social media so that her voice and thoughts are heard. She has a lot of people who support her and want to help make a change too.

This article clearly shows that it is never too early to fight for what you believe in. I do agree that social media is a very powerful tool, and it can reach and connect many people from all over the world. With social media, we can come together and fight for solutions to problems that are damaging the Earth. The Earth truly is a beautiful place that we must respect and care for. It is also intriguing to see how some of the information on social media is used to criticize people or is used for less important things. It is interesting to see an 11 year old, in this case Greta Thunberg, fighting for something that most adults and world leaders are not taking seriously. It is incredible how education can make you realize and learn so many things that are going to help to change the world that we currently live so that it becomes a better place for everyone.

I hope that the younger generation will find this article and read it so that they can be inspired by Greta Thunberg and see that it is never too early to learn about issues that one day will affect the way they live their life. I understand the need to spread awareness to the newer generations and to higher politicians and I feel bad that Greta feels frustrated due to the ignorance that is in the governments.

This was a great article. Greta Thunberg has done a great job in becoming an advocate for climate change. She has had negative comments directed towards her by Political Leaders (Donald Trump), yet she has still pushed for her agenda to get through to all people. As a young teenager, she has done a lot and I cannot wait to see what she has in store.
