Edward Gain
Peter Coons
A great piece on a sadistic killer. His making of mementos call back to movies such as “The Silence of the Lambs” and “The Texas Chainsaw Massacre.” Now, clearly, we can see where these movies pulled their reference material. It begs the question, just how many people did Gein kill in total? Why did he snap in the way that he did that lead to his arrest? It would be interesting to see a follow up article exploring the motive of Gein, besides his obvious degraded mental capacity.

After watching Texas Chainsaw Massacre, and seeing the disclaimer that the movie was based on a true story, I learned the movie was based on Edward Gein. After reading about his crimes in this article, specifically the mask made of skin, I find it is easy to see why he would be found not guilty of murder because of insanity. Edward Gein sounds like the definition of someone who is criminally insane.

This was an interesting and creepy story. After reading it and about all of the different items that were found him his home, I wonder how many people he had killed previously to make all of items. Also, it seems strange that he could be so calm during his questioning, but I suppose that would make sense as to why he was found criminally insane.

Great article! The amount of details included in this story about this psychotic killer left a huge impact on the reader. I remember hearing about Gein after watching Silence of the Lambs because I was curious what kind of disturbed killer could inspire a character like buffalo bill. Gein was a truly messed up individual and I feel horrible for his victims who had to suffer such a tragic fate at his hands. Overall this was a very interesting article that left me feeling a bit disturbed.

The story of Ed Gein has always interested me, and not many people know that he was the inspiration behand the Texas chainsaw massacre movies. It is really scary to think there is people out there like Ed who suffer from mental health problems and are willing to commit such horrible crimes. This article was really well written and incredibly interesting. I really enjoyed reading it.

Prior to reading this article I had never heard of Ed Gein, but this author really gave the reader much factual information in regards to learning him. I appreciate that the author gave such a detailed backstory to his writing because typically their stories are not told, it gives you an insight to how their mind developed. I find it chilling that he used “trophies” for every body he used. Great story.

Prior to reading this article, I had never heard of Gein. After reading this of course I was shocked and very interested in what the article had to say about him. There was plenty of details on his background and I like that he was the inspiration behind plenty of movies. I think its amazing how someone who seemed so normal was a serial killer behind closed doors. Regardless, this article was very well written and kept me interest throughout the whole reading. Great job.

I had never heard of Ed Gein, and I found this article really interesting. It is always hard for me to believe that people like Ed get away with being not guilty if they are unstable. I still think that he is completely responsible for his horrific acts. He is obviously a very deranged man but he should never be allowed to walk free with the chance that he could make similar actions again. Good article.

The article leads with a great deal of suspense which really caught my eye while reading. The description of his unstable and horrific life really identified how psychopathic Ed Gein truly was. I was unaware of well credited screen plays which were made based off of Ed Gein’s heinous crimes he committed while in Plainfield, Wisconsin. I like how the article goes in to detail about how the body was hung like it was a trophy deer, it really explains how sadistic Ed Gein was. Great article!!

This is another really good article about crime story. I have never heard about this one. But from reading most of the crime articles on this cite, I have concluded that these events are made to the people that are treated poorly. This concept still follows for today with all of the shootings. lawyers are using the defense of the criminal being treated terrible. Overall you developed this really well.
