Unlocking Forensic Clues Through Hair Microscopy

I would like to thank Dr. McLeod for encouraging us to publish our work and for her valuable guidance throughout this project. Her teaching has deepened my understanding and appreciation of forensic microscopy. I would also like to thank my friends, family, and classmates for supporting me throughout this process.

Miranda Vela

I was born and raised in McAllen, Texas. Upon graduating in the Spring of 2025, I will receive a bachelor’s degree in Forensic Biology. In the future, I hope to pursue a career as a DNA analyst. During my time at St. Mary’s University, I have been involved in undergraduate research under the guidance of Dr. McLeod. I am also a dedicated member of Delta Zeta sorority, where I’ve held leadership positions including Vice President of Programs and Chapter President. These roles have allowed me to develop my leadership skills and build a strong support system within the campus community.
