Maria F Licerio

I was born in El Paso, TX and raised in Ciudad Juárez, MX, an experience that gave me a profound appreciation for border culture and bilingual identity. At 15, I began commuting daily between Juárez and El Paso to pursue my education and expand my personal and professional horizons. My background has deeply influenced my interests in social justice, economics, education, cultural exchange, gender issues, and political identities. I am passionate about immigration policy and community development, border issues and problematics, and most recently, the role of data in understanding economic conditions and shaping change. I aspire to become a researcher who brings attention to these issues within the field of economics. Motivated by my community, I am committed to advocating for equity, learning, and the creation of supportive spaces for young people.
