Alcohol-Related Liver Disease (ARLD) Infographic

Underage drinking and alcohol abuse is the most prevalent among college students, so awareness of the long-term detrimental effects of alcoholism is necessary. This project was supported by Dr. Boies for allowing her Epidemiology students like myself to discuss health-related issues that we feel most called to bring awareness to.

Amanda Tran

Hello all. My name is Amanda and I am pre-PA student pursuing a Biology major, a Psychology minor, and a certificate in Public Health. I will be graduating at the end of the Spring 2023 semester, but in my four years at St. Mary’s University, I have notably been an active member of the Marianist Leadership Program (MLP), which is a service and faith-based organization that serves both the South Side San Antonio community and within St. Mary’s. Currently, I am conducting vertebrae physiology research alongside Dr. Mary Hawkins. I was also a part of other organizations and acted as an executive board member of the University Programming Council (UPC) and a general member of Health Occupations Students of America (HOSA).

Such a beautifully done infographic! I believe it had the perfect amount of information to get your point across. I also really enjoy the fact that you addressed the issue of the transplant list having a high demand with insufficient donors. Alcoholism has been very glorified and many do not realize that alcohol is the #1 most abused substance. It may not be common knowledge what an unhealthy amount of alcohol assumption is for a day and/or week. Moreover, since most effects of alcohol are gradual and internal, many do not realize the severity until it is too late.

Very relevant infographic for anyone reading, easy read and well designed. Super important for this next generation in avoiding alcohol related diseases!

Good evening Amanda, your infographic was amazing. I loved that you stated the risks and consequences of alcoholic related liver disease. As a Hispanic growing up in the south, I witnessed many cases where parents during their 40’s were passing away due to the excessive amount and binge drinking, they were doing in events. The Mexican culture and traditions of drinking are very damaging to today’s generation, especially to young children and those that are underage. It is important to also raise awareness with families and schools on the dangers of drinking and how our cultures can redefine alcoholism. Alcohol is very dangerous despite many adults or children saying otherwise. I loved that you pointed out information on where to find help and how to know the effects of the risk’s alcohol can bring into our bodies, lives, and others.

Good Job!! The infographic effectively highlighted the dangers of excessive alcohol consumption, which is especially relevant given the prevalence of underage drinking among college students. The infographic was well-done and presents the issue in a positive light.

We tend to poison ourselves in more ways than we imagine at times we don’t even realize it until it is too late. If we don’t understand and not are aware of what could hurt us we will continue to do it; that is why it is important to stay informed, help others fight their addiction, and be able to find healthy ways and solutions to help the body.

Discussing ARLD is very important and i’m glad you decided to write and conduct your research on it. Your publication is easy to read and has a wonderful flow to it. I found it very interesting and I myself learned a little something. It was an easy read and made me want to read up more on it. I feel like it is important to write about these things to get more people engaged sooner rather than later on topics such as this one. greta job!

This infographic did an excellent job of demonstrating the hazards of excessive alcohol consumption. This is a hot topic because underage drinking is common among some college students. I condemn this infographic for being both informed and optimistic about how to deal with alcohol abuse. Normally, the issue is a depressing one that many people attempt to avoid, but this demonstrated that anyone can approach it with a cheerful attitude. The infographic itself was excellent.

This graphic did an excellent job of communicating the harmful truths of alcoholic liver disease. The graphic was easy to follow, and even easier to learn from. I loved the color palette and the in-depth descriptions of the excessive drinking section and the what should be done? section, and I feel that the latter is incredibly important, especially in the educatoin of college students who are possibly beginning to see the negative effects of alcohol consumption.

Your infographic caught my attention because I believe it educates many college students about the negative effects of binge drinking. Your poster is incredibly educational and accurately depicts all the material. Every time someone goes out, they should think about drinking responsibly. Once you start to enjoy it, it’s obvious that you’ll drink more, leading to the development of alcohol hepatitis, whose symptoms include weakness, skin that has turned yellow, and persistent vomiting.

Your infographic was interesting and very informative. I think you did a great job sharing this information and I think a lot of people can learn a lot from it. The effects that alcohol can have on an individual goes unnoticed pretty often. I enjoyed the amount of detail you put in your infographic and I want to congratulate you on your nomination!
