Acknowledgements:

Thank you to Dr. Lori Boies and my classmates for all of their assistance and support throughout this research project. I would also like to thank the St. Mary’s Public Health Certificate program for educating me and allowing me to further pursue my passion for healthcare and increasing access to health-related information. Finally, I would like to express my deepest gratitude to my family for always believing in me and encouraging me; none of this could have been done without their endless love and support.

Rita Estephan

Hello!
My name is Rita Estephan, and I am from Houston, Texas. After graduating in the Spring of 2023 with my Bachelor of Science in Biology and Certificate in Public Health, I plan to apply to medical school and pursue a doctorate degree in medicine. As of right now, I am interested in pediatrics and obstetrics and gynecology.
Currently, I work on campus as a Peer Health Educator in the Student Health Wellness Programs and conduct genetics research under Dr. Christine Gray. I am also involved in leadership for several student organizations: I serve as the Vice President of Membership for Alpha Phi Omega, the Treasurer for HOSA, and the Community Outreach Coordinator for It’s On Us. I have also served on staff for Rattler Awakening.
As I prepare to graduate in the next coming weeks, I wanted to take some time to thank St. Mary’s University, the Biology department, and all of my professors who have taught me over these past four years for teaching me and helping me pursue my passions. I would especially like to thank my family; they are my rock and my biggest support system. None of this would have been possible without them, and I am forever grateful and blessed to have them.

Hi Rita! I appreciate your infographic on such an uncommon topic! If it was not for this infographic, I probably would not have any knowledge of Anaplastic Thyroid Cancer. Your presentation of the information was amazing. My eyes were drawn to the shocking statistics located on the page. Your color scheme and theme were also perfect. I could see this piece being published in a doctor’s office one day. Thank you again!

Hi Rita, I enjoyed reading your infographic. I am glad I was able to read more about Anaplastic Thyroid Cancer such that I was unaware of it. Your concise details and visuals helped me understand the severity of ATC. It is heartbreaking to see that prognosis is generally poor and how the timing of detection is important to combat this and proceed with treatment.
