Rita Estephan
Hello!
My name is Rita Estephan, and I am from Houston, Texas. After graduating in the Spring of 2023 with my Bachelor of Science in Biology and Certificate in Public Health, I plan to apply to medical school and pursue a doctorate degree in medicine. As of right now, I am interested in pediatrics and obstetrics and gynecology.
Currently, I work on campus as a Peer Health Educator in the Student Health Wellness Programs and conduct genetics research under Dr. Christine Gray. I am also involved in leadership for several student organizations: I serve as the Vice President of Membership for Alpha Phi Omega, the Treasurer for HOSA, and the Community Outreach Coordinator for It’s On Us. I have also served on staff for Rattler Awakening.
As I prepare to graduate in the next coming weeks, I wanted to take some time to thank St. Mary’s University, the Biology department, and all of my professors who have taught me over these past four years for teaching me and helping me pursue my passions. I would especially like to thank my family; they are my rock and my biggest support system. None of this would have been possible without them, and I am forever grateful and blessed to have them.
