StMU Research Scholars

Featuring Scholarly Research, Writing, and Media at St. Mary's University

This video project combines research and creative AI tools—including language models, video editing, AI-generated images, and music AI—to bring a podcast together about Pearl Harbor using Franklin Roosevelt and a host named Cassidy. The podcast explores critical themes such as the tragedy at Pearl Harbor in Hawaii and how the government handled it.

  1. Research and Script Creation: During the research phase, I used the large language model (LLM) ChatGPT to craft authentic dialogue and narration that reflected the perspectives of key historical figures—such as President Franklin D. Roosevelt, military personnel, and civilians. Each prompt was carefully structured to align with the podcast’s thematic focus, ensuring historical accuracy while maintaining narrative impact.
  2. Image and Voice Generation: Visuals were generated using Magic Hour AI imaging to recreate scenes from 1941, including battleships, airfields, and key individuals. Using Eleven Labs, I produced lifelike voices to represent the people involved, adding emotional weight and historical presence to their words.
  3. Music and Audio Composition: Suno AI generated an original musical score, setting a dramatic and respectful tone throughout the episode. The soundtrack enhances the atmosphere and supports the emotional gravity of the subject matter.
  4. Editing and Assembly: I used DaVinci Resolve to integrate the script, visuals, generated voices, and music. Thoughtful transitions, sound design, and video effects help create an immersive experience that feels both cinematic and educational. I also used iMovie to add text to the video.

This AI-powered project pushes the boundaries of creative storytelling, making history feel immediate and engaging. By combining technology and research, it invites viewers to experience one of the most pivotal moments in American history in a format that is both informative and emotionally compelling.

Pearl Harbor was a tragic and eye-opening moment in American history. It’s heartbreaking to think about the lives lost that day and how quickly everything changed. The attack didn’t just damage ships—it shattered a nation’s sense of safety and pulled the U.S. into World War II. Remembering Pearl Harbor reminds us of the sacrifices made and the importance of staying aware and united in uncertain times. I love how you captured a Pearl Harbor thoroughly with this video. I love how well you used the AI also!

Glad to see history is still in the present and brought to us by the younger generation. We should never forget our history and make sure all the facts are told truthfully. Great job Micaella!
