What surprised me in this infographic was how the Namibian people were exploited for their resources during the Apartheid era. What caught my attention was the amount of resources Namibia has, such as copper, zinc, magnesium, silver, gold, and lead. The best part of this infographic was learning how Namibia partners with different corporations so they can send all their materials abroad. This resonated with me because it caught my attention how a certain company in China was under investigation for its unethical treatment. This infographic was very detailed, which made the issues stand out.
Hey Cris,
I think its cool to think that a country has a motto. Namibia’s motto is “Unity , Liberty, Justice,” which sounds inspiring to say the least. The fact that a country rich in natural resources still faces obstacles such as equitable wealth distribution and worker rights shows how colonialism still affects them. The story of XinFeng investements investigation is one that really resonated wih me. It would be an interesting take if this was expanded on specific methods of resource exploitation under South African and German rule.
This infographic is a highly informative piece that details the mining industry in Namibia. This piece explores the background of mining in the country and how it has been developed over time. It continues to investigate how the exploration of the mining industry is causing problems for the nation itself. A really well-done piece.
