Really great video! Your usage of graphics and maps was very helpful in conveying the story. I have always loved the Crusades, since they stick out as a sore spot in Church history. The absolute zealotry of these men (and women) is unrivaled to this day. To be such a person of faith must be a bizarre, but beautiful thing.
Nice work on the video! Your video was very informative and captivating. The voice over with the Crusaders was a nice touch to the video, and the maps and pictures used help give the video more authentication on the topic. I also liked the background music of the monks chanting which gave it a real vibe which grabs the audience. Overall, the use of the video to portray the First Crusades was in good taste.
This was an amazing video Danielle. I loved how you used footage to further tell the narrative, rather than just pictures. I have to ask, where did you get those video clips? because I would love to watch whatever show or movie they are from. Back to the point, I was amazed when they found the spear that punctured Jesus’ side, which led them to victory against an overwhelming enemy. That almost sounded like something found in an Indiana Jones move or something. I was also amazed when they found the tomb of Jesus Christ, as I’m sure they were as well.
Great job on the video presentation. I recently studied the Crusades so I was already very interested in this video. I liked the background music you chose for your video it set the mood perfectly. It is interesting that the first Crusade was so popular because the men who went to fight would have their sins forgiven. The Crusades, especially the first, were big historical events and your video did a great job illustrating it.
Danielle, this was a very informative video about the First Crusade. I did not remember that Alexios and the Roman Christians at odds with each other at the beginning of the Crusade. That fact made the dynamics of the Crusades much more interesting, since the Byzantine Empire was the route for Muslims to make it into the “Roman” Empire from the East. Unfortunately, your video footage sometimes seemed repetitive and did not match the narrative of your story very well, but that problem could be easily solved. Overall, the information was delivered clearly. Good job!
Great video! I have always been intrigued in learning more and more about the Crusades and this video helped me understand a few things that I was not to sure on. By the way, the background music was a little creepy for me, but it was perfect for the video. Believe it or not the Crusades were a little scary… Overall great job in keeping me engaged!
I am very impressed with this video. Your audio is fairly good and your voice was easy to understand. What I really enjoyed was the graphics, the fight scenes, and the interactive map. It was very helpful that you added in the maps so that the viewers can get a sense of where these areas are. The transition between pictures and the scenes was constructed very well.
Good job on this video presentation, it’s the first one I’ve seen on the history blog, and it’s made me curious enough to go take a look at the other. Regardless, I’ve always loved hearing and reading about the Crusades, and I definitely felt like your production did the content justice. Well done.
Incidentally, I’m curious where you got all of the footage for the live action sequences, is it from a documentary or a movie?
Good video, The Crusades were impactful events that forever change the way religion is practiced. The holy land of Jerusalem is also a war-torn land from all the conflicts. Even to this day, ownership of Jerusalem is till debated. The big religions in Islam, Christianity, Judaism all claim it for themselves to be their holy land. My only grievance with this video is that actual video felt like a slideshow. But other than that good video.
This video was very interesting it felt like I was watching a video from the history channel. It was interesting to learn that the crusades where really a unification of most of Europe that decided to go take back the holly land. I found it surprising that the one vision that the priest had was the place where they found what is believed to be the spear of destiny. The sad part is to think that at this point it market a start of the hate that Christians and Muslims would have years to come. Overall it was interesting to view and get to an understand of this period of time.
