My name is Mya Barrera. I am a Criminology major, and I graduate in 2027. I am from San Antonio, Texas. I'm very passionate about music, especially rock, so creating a timeline about the "King of Rock and Roll" was truly a thrill and wonderful learning experience. I'm honored to have my timeline published and I am grateful for all the people in my life who helped support me along the way.

Elvis transcended racial and cultural barriers with his music, becoming a cultural icon and symbol of rebellion, freedom, and youth culture in the 1950s and beyond. His influence on popular culture, fashion, and entertainment continues to be felt to this day. Presley sure made himself an icon with his electrifying stage presence and magnetic charisma. What a timeline Mya!

I love your timeline! Elvis’ growth in fame was insane. He was the definition of an artist ahead of its time. This timeline captures his life perfectly and looks appealing. Elvis’s music continuously impacts so many lives and will live on forever. He will forever be remembered as the king of rock and roll. Congratulations on your nomination!

This is a great timeline! It comes at a great time after the release of the Elvis and Priscilla movies, which have launched the world into an Elvis frenzy! I had never seen most of these photos before, and it’s so interesting to know more about the Elvis we all know and the music we love. Congrats on your nomination!

As someone who grew up listen to Elvis because of my grandparents it was very interesting to see a timeline that goes though the big events in his life that also had a cultural impact on people at the time. The timeline was very interesting and informative while also using images that capture the moments in his life that people may not know about prior to seeing this timeline.

Hi, Mya! I loved this timeline and reading it! Elvis Presley and his legacy is notorious especially known as the King of Rock n’ Roll. To this day Elvis has impacted many people even younger generations listen to his music. I didn’t know that Elvis was in 30 films and more, and his debut was in “Love me Tender”. It is unfortunate that his life was cut short and he died from a heart attack due to dealing with obesity and many other issues but his legacy has lived on and will live on.

This was a very interesting timeline to read. I like the way you used the symbols of the skull and medicine pill to describe Elvis’s life and how he had become afflicted and addicted to pills which would ultimately lead to his death. I also like the photos that were selected for the timeline. I like how they showcase how amazing he was as well as his struggles.

Great work! Elvis Presley’s rise to fame and career overall as a musician was certainly a rollercoaster, and I was surprised to learn from your project that Elvis had been drafted into the military seemingly at the height of his career. While his career as a musician was a success, his battle with substance abuse was fierce and cost him his life. In pop culture, the tale seems as old as time. Elvis’ death like many so many others serves as a stark reminder of the danger of substance abuse.

Loved this infographic. I am a huge Elvis fan and I think it is such an interesting thing to see his life before fame compared to when he was famous and until he passed away. He is an individual who came from poverty and a family who was extremely unfortunate. The fact that he was initially a twin was what struck me about his life, I have always found a fascination with his life because there was more to him beside the fame aspect.

10/10 really interesting and informative. Love the use of the simple images to represent different things such as the skull to represent his death.
