I was surprised that tourism is both vital to Seychelles’ economy and also poses major risks to its fragile environment. I really appreciated how the infographic clearly frames tourism as both an opportunity and a threat and encourages the reader to think critically about impact and solutions. Amazing and stunning.

I was surprised by how deeply integrated tourism is in the Seychelles economy, not only playing a central role in the country’s economic growth but also in helping shape social and environmental policies. The most compelling aspect of this infographic is its in-depth analysis of the challenges and opportunities presented by tourism. I really enjoyed your infographic!

    Hello Maricella,

I was surprised to learn how much Seychelles depends on tourism and how that dependence makes the economy extremely vulnerable to outside shocks like the COVID-19 pandemic. I didn’t realize that tourism actually outnumbers the local population yearly and that it can create environmental, social, and economic problems if not managed carefully.

The best part of this infographic was the “Blue Economy” section. It clearly explained how Seychelles is trying to move towards sustainable marine resource use and diversify its economy beyond tourism. The diagrams made the connections easy to understand and showed a path forward for the country.

One piece of constructive feedback would be to tighten some of the text blocks a little more for visual flow especially where multiple bullet points were used, to keep the energy and clarity strong throughout the presentation. Otherwise, the graphics and storytelling made a complex issue really engaging.

Typically, the most I hear about the Seychelles comes from social media posts showing some beautiful sights and beaches. I was not aware just to what extent the country depends on tourism for its economic well-being. Tourism as a major industry is very often a double-edged sword, and the infographic does a great job of showing how badly this can hit the Seychelles, as it did during the 2020 lockdowns.

I was surprised to learn that tourism has been able to make Seychelles wealthier than other African countries. The most compelling element of this infographic was the inclusion of the GDP graph from 2016-2023. It resonated because it showed the impact of the pandemic, which is something we all remember. It also shows how intense the dependency on tourism is, since 2020 also resulted in a large negative GDP growth.

This was a very good and informative infographic. I was very surprised at the number of tourists each year. The fact that they have more tourists visiting the country per year than the actual population of the country is just surprising. But what was also surprising is that the overall threat to sea life due to the size of the amount of tourism is very sad. Overall very good infographic.

This is an impressive infographic that addresses a key issue of Seychelles’ dependence on tourism as its primary source of revenue. I was surprised by how much of an impact climate change has had on the island, in addition to the negative effects of tourism.
The infographic is very interactive, and the illustrations help draw the reader’s attention to its key points. Excellent job!

    Hey Maricela,
Fantastic infographic! I was unaware that Seychelles is ranked #1 as Africa’s wealthiest country in terms of GDP. However, it is shocking to see that they are primarily dependent on tourism and how quickly a loss in tourism can negatively impact this beautiful island. Your colorful infographic, mixed with an abundance of pictures, statistics, and graphs, helps your audience engage with the message you are trying to spread. Outstanding work!

I loved how you explored the over-reliance on Tourism on the country and raised awareness about possible threats it might bring to the country. The country attracts many tourists every year because of its natural beauty. While this industry must be promoted and developed to the maximum extent, it is important for the government to also reinvest that money in other industries and sectors to avoid dependency.

What surprised me most about this country is how the economy is susceptible to external shocks. I wasn’t aware that one change can collapse the entire economy. The best part of this infographic was the Blue economy model that helped explained the sustainable use of marine resources. This was a great presentation, and very informative I do not have any additional suggestions for the author.
