Maternal Nutrition: Mom’s Plate, Baby’s Fate

The science of women’s health is a field that continually inspires me to learn and discover how biology, nutrition, strength, and mindfulness all intertwine throughout a woman’s pregnancy. This research project has reaffirmed my commitment to supporting women’s health and helping every woman flourish—before, during, and after motherhood.

Maternal Nutrition: Fueling two lives through mindful nourishment. This project explores how nutrient transfer works from mom to baby, and how a mother’s diet supports fetal growth and lifelong health. What mom eats today shapes the strength, development, and future of her baby.

I really liked this infographic because it made maternal nutrition easy to understand without feeling overwhelming. I didn’t realize how nutrients actually travel to the baby through the placenta and umbilical cord. Seeing it step by step helped it click for me. I also liked the clear “what to eat” and “what not to eat” sections because they were practical. It honestly shows how important everyday food choices can be. One small suggestion would be to shorten a few of the longer explanations so it’s even easier to quickly read through. This was really informative and well put together, great job!

Lalina, I really enjoyed reading your infographic and learning about maternal nutrition and why it’s so important. As someone who hopes to be an OBGYN and a mother someday I really appreciate you researching and informing people about the importance of maternal nutrition. One thing I might add would be some explanation on some of the diseases that could occur when having bad nutrition just to really make people aware of what could happen if they don’t prioritize maternal nutrition.
