I feel like the impact that having information in a local level is impactful and strikes a core part of us in giving empathy to the people around us. Though I would like to to see a cleaner poster I feel like the information was very helpful in seeing how we can help the hungry. It didn’t seem to mesh well with each other, though I guess that is not always the goal. Great job in helping the community we live in with this advocacy!
Hello, this is a very good and educational infographic . I believe that food insecurity gets vastly overlooked by many and we should be more educated on the subject and be more inclined to help out. I like the visual of the cycle of hunger as it puts many things in perspective and shows us what leads to what. I was very surprised by the statistics of how many people are affected by this and how few people are actually helped. This was a wonderful infographic and I enjoyed reading it
I enjoyed how informative this article was, I liked how you explained food insecurity and the effects of it. The Cycle of Hunger shows how it affects people and how dangerous it is. Food insecurity is a huge issue and it needs to be talked about more, and both graphs in the infographic explain it well. The pictures/icons were great as well. Overall, great job!
Food insecurity is a distressing issue and it persists because it is not paid enough attention to. The Cycle of Hunger you provided works well to display the danger of this epidemic. There were multiple choices of volunteer options included which is always appreciated. For 14% of Bexar County to be food insecure really makes me think about my community and motivates me.
The infographic was really interesting the information was a lot and did relay the message it was trying to do. But it was well written the information was easy to understand and read. I also believe it was important to show the risks of malnutrition amongst families.
Great infographic! I really liked how you mentioned that food insecurity is not just about having enough food, but more about not having the proper food for one’s health. I have noticed that junk food is usually cheaper than fruits and vegetables. This makes it harder for people with low income to live a healthy lifestyle. And because of this, like you mentioned we have a lot of people facing obesity. I like how you mentioned 5 organizations that can help people get these healthy resources. Food banks are a good resource for the people who truly need help.
As someone who did not know what food insecurity was, it is striking to learn how much this issue can impact people’s lives over a long period of time. The cycle of hunger image within the infographic provides a clear visual of the limits that food insecurity imposes on individuals and their loved ones. This issue is something I believe is found all over the country if not the world and informing yourself on ways to help those struggling is an important task that we should be aware of.
Hello! While I feel as though the color choice could have been more visually engaging, I still greatly enjoyed reading the information provided on this infograph. A great point was made regarding what food insecurity can mean. I think there is a common misconception surrounding food insecurity and people think that this just means that there may not be enough food to support a household but it can also mean that a household may not have access to proper, nutritious food. People living with chronic health conditions may find it more difficult to sustain a healthy diet while having to keep up with every day responsibilities. The statistics mentioned at the bottom of your infograph were shocking. It pains me to know that there are so many people living within our community that are battling food insecurity. I loved how you included resources for those in need and ways that people can help if they are able to at the bottom of your infograph as well. With the holidays fast approaching I can only hope that people will utilize these resources and donate if they are able.
I would have liked to see a little more information or at least more in-depth information. I think this was a good starting point but I have a couple of questions for starters I did not see anything mentioned about public school systems: do they play a part in food insecurity within children and if so what ages? Public schools are required to give kids free lunch. Are those meals healthy and does it impact those kids who are hungry and do not get healthy and nurturing food at home? You could do a next/ positive aspect. I liked the pictures good job!
Great infographic, I wasn’t aware of such high food uncertainty in San Antonio, especially with many of them existing within the city. It is concerning how much nutrition effects young children and there development although we do have great programs to help those in need with the use of government programs, charities and even on college campuses there are programs. I know Texas is one of the states with an above average level of food insecurity.
