My name is Byron Cox and I am an environmental science major from the city of Helotes, Texas. I’m currently a junior with a set graduation date of May 2023 and a desire to aid in city-wide conservation efforts. I often spend my time being with friends or doing volunteer work, though the best times are when I’m doing both! My goal is to do the most I can for the conservation field, and I look forward to a career someday doing just that.

I had never known the importance of chlorine in health services. I was also unaware of its use during the coronavirus pandemic. When I think of chlorine I immediately associate pools, it was nice to read a well-written infographic that taught me other importance of chlorine.

Hi Byron! As someone who honestly knew next to nothing about water chlorination (other than that it kills diseases) I found this infographic really easy to follow and informative. It’s maybe not the first thing that comes to mind when I think of significant public health advancements, but seeing how much it reduced the severity of typhoid in the 20th century as well as its impact during COVID-19 in the present day put things into perspective. Also, the infographic is very nicely designed and looks professional. You did an excellent job!

Hello Byron! This was a very interesting read. Especially being that I had no prior knowledge of this topic and the impacts that it has on the body and of viruses. I think that it is super interesting that it is required for a small amount of chlorine be put in our water to help stop the spread of diseases such as the coronavirus. Not only that, but to see how much safer our water is now compared to the 60’s was a very interesting thing to look at. Thank you for this wonderful infographic and good luck at the awards!

Hi Bryan, it is a straightforward but informative article about water chlorination. I have heard water chlorination is used a lot in industry and water pools but I’m pretty surprised to know that water chlorination helped a great impact on health. It is also interesting to know that it had helped decline the severity of typhoid and prevent the spread out of the corona virus.

Congratulations on your well-deserved nomination. This infographic gives fantastic information about water chlorination, a procedure that I was unaware of. It might seem a little terrifying, but it’s good to have a greater grasp of the advantages of this treatment. The design of your article is also quite sleek and flows nicely.

I had no idea that chlorine was something other than what you put in pools. This graphic was so interesting and relevant especially since you tied it to COVID 19.

This is a great article demonstrating how some chemicals in the water can greatly benefit people regarding their own health and wellness. It’s truly amazing to think that such a simple procedure and a very small measure of product could contribute to such a big change in bacterial proliferation. Truly a great article, extremely well written, I appreciate the read!

Hi Byron, I really liked your graphics and thought the information was fascinating. I had no idea covid could be neutralized with chlorine within 30 seconds, that’s amazing to know. It is quite fascinating to see how such a small dosage of chlorine can prevent or lessen the impacts of diseases,, I can see why it would be required here in the U.S, very fascinating, great job.

I always thought Chlorine in a sense was good from my skin when I would get into water. On a serious note it is crazy to think chlorine actually neutralizes their covid-19 virus in a matter of seconds. In a sense it is awesome to think water with certain chemicals can actually have a great benefit towards people’s wellness. This is just to show that things we think can be used for one thing can have a multi purpose use.
