Featuring Scholarly Research, Writing, and Media at St. Mary's University

My video centers on the 1853 Yellow Fever epidemic in New Orleans, capturing the hardships people faced during this devastating time. Using a range of AI platforms, I conducted in-depth research and created a historically accurate, respectful portrayal of the era’s challenges.

  1. Script Development: To develop lyrics for the music video, I relied on ChatGPT, Suno AI V3, and Gemini. ChatGPT provided essential background research on the epidemic, Suno AI V3 helped generate initial lyrics, and Gemini ensured historical accuracy through its feedback. Through this iterative process, I crafted lyrics that are both meaningful and engaging, aligned with the tone and purpose of the video.
  2. Audio and Music Selection: With the lyrics finalized, I used Suno AI to bring the song to life. I experimented with various beats, and after six attempts, I settled on a track that captured the historical and emotional atmosphere of 1853 New Orleans.
  3. Visual and Character Creation: For visuals, I used Stable Diffusion as my main tool for generating imagery until I transitioned to CGDream to complete the remaining images when credits ran low. To add movement and animation, I used Runway, which allowed me to infuse life into each scene and enhance the narrative’s flow.
  4. Editing and Assembly: Finally, I compiled all elements in DaVinci Resolve, carefully integrating music, visuals, and animations to create a cohesive and immersive video experience.

By combining these AI tools—ChatGPT, Suno AI V3, Gemini, Stable Diffusion, CGDream, Runway, and DaVinci Resolve—I was able to produce a video that vividly conveys the impact and resilience of those affected by the Yellow Fever epidemic in 1853 New Orleans.

This project was amazing. The video really captures the suffer and hopelessness of the people during the Yellow Fever through the images and lyrics, yet the rhythm of the song makes it enjoyable and even somewhat funny. I am truly amazed by the AI work on the project because, despite some images being distorted, they looked pretty realistic and good.
